$2 1976 Federal Reserve Star Note.
What are Star Note?
Replacement bills indicated by a star symbol at the end of the serial number instead of a letter. Printed to replace defective notes during production, they typically represent less than 1% of notes produced. Their relative scarcity compared to regular notes drives their premium value, especially for star notes from smaller print runs or those with fancy serial numbers, which can command significant collector premiums.

Bills with low or high position serial numbers (first 1000 or last 1000 in a series, e.g., 00000000-00000999). Highly prized by collectors for their sequential extremes that represent the beginning or end of a printing run.

Hello I’m wondering if any of these old $20 bills are worth saving? I’ve had them for a couple years now. There’s a $5 & a $100 bill too I’m wondering what they’re worth? One of the $20 bills is cut at the bottom right in an angular shape like a mistake cut. Another has it right firemen the middle in an arc style cut.
Hi Alex — thanks for the photo. Quick answer: most of these are probably worth face value, but a couple things are worth checking.
The old-style $20s
These are the older design (pre-1996 style). In general they’re very common and usually worth $20 each unless:
From your photo, none of the $20s appear to be star notes, and the serials shown don’t jump out as major fancy types — so most look like spenders.
About the “cut” corners / arc cut
A true BEP cutting error usually shows very uneven borders (huge margin on one side) and/or part of the design getting cut off in a straight guillotine-type cut.
An angular missing corner or a curved/arc cut is often post-production damage, and that can actually reduce value.
If you want a solid call, post close-up front + back of the two “cut” notes, laid flat, and include a ruler showing the margins.
